Has its quirks, but great LED TV for the price. (review updated 9/10/12)
By Matthew L. Vande
ORIGINAL REVIEW:Bought this TV for my bedroom at one of the big warehouse stores. Was impressed with the specs on it for the price - 120hz, 1080p, wifi-enabled, etc. Got it home and setup was relatively painless. The stand that it comes with is not adjustable however, so if you need it to be in a stand and be able to tilt up or down, this may not be the right TV for you. Luckily, I did not need it to do either of those things. Setting up picture and network settings was pretty easy as well. When you first turn the TV on, the Vizio logo immediately shows up on the screen, but it take probably 10-15 seconds before an actual channel shows up on screen. After that, you're good to go.The remote is basic but functional. They've definitely simplified the remote from previous versions of this TV. The box it came in actually had a sticker put over the top of the text that originally said "integrated keyboard remote" with new text that says "easy to use remote". Older versions of this remote were two-sided and had a built-in keyboard. While this would have been nice to have, it's not exactly hard to type in text using a cursor with this remote. It does have buttons at the top that connect you directly to Netflix, Vudu, and Amazon Video On Demand, which is convenient (as long as those are the places you want to visit most often...). It's a little awkward getting to any of the other Vizio Apps, however, since they are essentially a subset of the Vizio Apps folder. For example, I have to go through a couple of screens to get to the Pandora app, where Netflix is one click. Not a big deal, but thought I would mention it.As for the TV itself, the picture is REALLY nice. I know people say that you can't tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz, or 720p and 1080p on a 32" TV, but I just want to go on record that this is probably the nicest picture I've seen on a 32" LED screen. The speakers are average for an LED set - not great, not horrible. The reason I went with this TV was because it still had the option for audio out through a headphone jack. For a TV of this size, I like to hook in a high-quality set of computer speakers, then set the headphone audio to be controlled by the remote control volume button. The sounds is vastly improved with a $50 set of speakers. (Mine are the Altec Lansing FX3022 Expressionist with built-in subwoofer... weird looking next to a computer, but oddly work nicely with a flat screen TV.)Inputs are not plentiful, but reasonable. I was only connecting a digital cable box and a Roku. With 3 HDMI inputs total, I still had a one HDMI input available to me after hooking those up, so I'm cool with it. The HDMI connections are on the left side of the TV, so the HDMI cable are slightly visible when looking at the TV from the front. Not a huge deal, but it's definitely a minor design flaw... they could have figured out a way to keep all of that stuff concealed behind the TV if they wanted to.I elected to go with an extended warranty, only because it was relatively inexpensive and added another 2 years to the included 1 warranty from Vizio. Is it worth it? Not sure. I'll let you know if it breaks down in the next year. All in all, this is a very nice TV for an excellent price. There are definitely cheaper 32" LED TV's out there, but not with these specs. Not even close.UPDATE 6.25.12:The first HDMI input went bad after only a month of use. Yikes. I moved it to the 2nd HDMI for the time being and plan on returning it for replacement at the end of my extended warranty. Unless the other two HDMI inputs go bad, that is...Still love the picture quality, but that is not a good sign...UPDATE 7.16.12:The second HDMI went out last week. I am temporarily running the cable box through the third and final HDMI connection for the time being. Vizio customer service was pretty responsive and is sending someone out to replace the board this week. Hopefully this resolves the issue... will keep you posted.UPDATE 7.18.12:Vizio sent out a repair person with a new board. They were easy to deal with on the phone and the repair went quickly and smoothly. As of right now, the TV is operating properly. Based on my conversation with the repair guy, the HDMI issue may not necessarily be specific to Vizio but to all HDMI ports on all TV's. Supposedly any type of minor power surge can kill an HDMI connection. Based on how mine failed in order as I used them, he suspects that the real culprit is a low-level power surge getting past my surge protector and killing the HDMI port which had an active connection to my cable box. He still says that the culprit could be the internal board, but could also be an outside source. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but I upgraded my surge protector to one that also protects the coax cable and am hoping that the new board will mean no more HDMI problems. I am cautiously upgrading my review up to 3 stars and if things stay working, I may move it back up to the original 4 stars. It really is a heck of a TV other than this HDMI issue...UPDATE 9.10.12:Well, the TV has been running like a champ for close to two months now since the new internal board was installed, so I'm guessing the original issue was with the internal motherboard. I'm still a little leery that such a crucial part failed so quickly, but Vizio was great about sending someone out. I am cautiously putting the rating back to the original 4 stars. I would strongly urge people interested in getting this TV to invest in an add-on Squaretrade warranty or the equivalent from whatever store you end up buying this TV from - it's probably in the $30 to $40 range. I'll sleep a lot better at night knowing that I have options if this TV has another problem at the end of the 1 year manufacturer's warranty.

Pleasantly Surprised
By Kimberly C. Fels
The girlfriend and I were in the market for a new bedroom TV since the sound on our old 720p LCD TV died. After much deliberation and research, we decided to bite the bullet and purchase this TV. I had my reservations after carefully considering the reviews, but in this price bracket there is no other 120hz LED television worth considering. I am so happy with the picture quality and build quality that I would have no second thoughts about buying the same model in a larger size for the home entertainment center in the living room. I feel I could easily put this TV against many more expensive models of the same size and be happy to have this one.The few things that I am not as happy with are as follows: I basically turned off all the extra picture and sound adjustment features that are in the menu system. They are not necessary and seem to detract from the over all viewing experience rather than add to it. I could not justify knocking stars for this because that stuff was so easy to turn off, and who would complain about EXTRA features anyway? I am sure in some situations they would be useful. I suspect that the Amazon user review for this tv that has it rated at 1 star because of his volume troubles simply has the auto volume adjustment feature turned on. The remote is an odd combination of slick and appealing design, intuitive button layout, but an obvious use of low-cost materials. In other words, it doesn't look cheap but it feels cheap. Another tiny nitpick is that I have an Amazon app button on the remote, but the app does not exist in the widget bar or anywhere on the TV. The button simply brings up a list of other apps. There is also a link to something called "Web Videos" that seems to take the place of what should be, in my opinion, YouTube. YouTube is not one of the advertised apps, however, so I did not take any points away. All in all, there is not much I would change about this TV. Great value, great features, great picture.

Vizio over the others..
By Tony
I didn't consider getting this (Vizio) brand until I saw it in person at a local store. I was thinking Sony or Samsung but after seeing all the features it had and the sharp vivid picture quality I had to try it out. For the money you get an amazing TV. This was for a bedroom with limited space. The sound quality for such a thin package is more than adequate for the bedroom. It comes with more than a few Internet apps Net-Flix, Youtube, etc, and the built in Wi-Fi makes for an easy set-up. At about 16 lbs. its light enough to hang from a wall. Does alot for around 400.00. since it's new I hope it will last longer then the warranty. We'll see...Tony
